How the conversion works
US and UK bra band sizes are the same, but cup letters diverge after D, which is where most mis-sized online orders come from. The US moves from D to DD (or E) and then DDD (or F), while the UK moves to DD, E, F, FF and so on. This converter shows the UK equivalent of a US size.
The band number is identical in both systems. Only the cup letters change from DD upwards: US DDD (F) is a UK E, and US G is a UK F.
Getting the right fit
Cup size is relative to band size, so a 34C holds a different volume to a 38C. If you change band size, keep the same "sister size" volume by moving the cup the opposite way: 34C, 32D and 36B hold about the same volume. A professional fitting is the best way to find your size, as many people wear the wrong band and cup.
Frequently asked questions
What is a US DD in UK sizes?
A US DD (also sold as E) is a UK DD. After that the letters diverge: US DDD or F is UK E, US G is UK F, and US H is UK FF.
Are these size conversions exact?
No. Clothing and shoe sizes are conventions rather than measurements, and every brand cuts its garments a little differently. Treat the result as a reliable starting point, then confirm with the retailer's own size chart and customer reviews.
What should I do if I am between two sizes?
Compare your body measurements against the brand's chart. If you are still undecided, choose the larger size for a relaxed fit or if the item does not stretch, and the smaller size if the garment is stretchy and you prefer a snug fit.
